A vintage movie poster reprint of ''Ben Hur'', a 1925 silent epic film directed by Fred Niblo and based on the 1880 novel "Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ" by Lew Wallace. The film is renowned for its grand scale, elaborate set pieces, and its status as one of the most ambitious and expensive silent films ever made.
The story of "Ben-Hur" is set in ancient Rome and follows the life of Judah Ben-Hur, portrayed by Ramon Novarro, a Jewish prince who is falsely accused of a crime and condemned to slavery. The film explores his journey of redemption and revenge against his childhood friend, Messala, played by Francis X. Bushman, who has become a Roman tribune.
One of the most iconic and spectacular sequences in the film is the chariot race, a thrilling and meticulously staged scene that has become legendary in the history of cinema. The race is a testament to the technical prowess and innovation of silent filmmaking.
